We've all got things around the house and in our wardrobe that if it wasn't just our favourite item it would have been thrown in the bin a long time ago. Don't do it!

Dylon Hand Dyes can restore it to its former glory with no hassle.

Dylon Hand Dye is perfect for all those items that are too delicate or just too small to throw in the washing machine. Whether they're wool or silk, they needn't be tossed aside.

Just think, that silk top could be given a new lease of life ready in time for the summer.

Dylon Hand Dye Instructions

· Suitable fabrics: cotton, linen, viscose, wool, silk and polyester/cotton
mixes.

· A lighter shade is achieved on polyester/cotton mixes because polyester
and other pure synthetics DO NOT pick up dye.

· Lighter results also on wool and silk.

· 1 pack is suitable for up to 250 g / 8 oz dry weight fabric.

You will need:

· 250g / 8oz of salt (the quantity of water and salt must be
increased proportionately with the number of packs used)
· Rubber gloves
·
Flat bottomed bowl

Instructions:

1. Weigh dry fabric. Wash fabric thoroughly even if new to remove stains or
dressings which may not be visible to the eye and leave damp.

2. Wearing rubber gloves, dissolve dye in 1 litre/2 pints of warm water
stirring thoroughly.

3. Put 6 litres/12 pints hottest tap water into a flat bottomed bowl, or
stainless steel sink (please note we do not recommend a bath and dye
may stain some plastic containers).

4. Add 250g/8oz of salt, stir well, then add dye solution.

5. Put unfolded damp fabric into bowl, dye for one hour. Agitate continually
for first 15 minutes by squeezing the dye through the fabric and lifting out
of the solution. Stir regularly for another 45 minutes, keeping fabric
submerged.

6. Rinse in cold water until water runs clear, then wash separately in hot
water using normal washing detergent. For wool and silk, rinse in
lukewarm water.

7. Dry away from direct heat and sunlight.

8. Wash garment separately for first few washes to remove excess dye
