Marabu Easy Colour Batik and Tinting Fabric Dye

The ideal Marabu product for batik and dyeing work for school, hobby and leisure use. For the dyeing of all fabrics from cotton, linen, silk, viscose, blended-fibre woven up to a maximum of 20 % synthetic content and Japan paper. Very easy to use. Very good fading resistance. Wash fabrics first to remove dressing. Pack contents are sufficient for intense dyeing of 150 gms of fabric. Medium to light colour will be achieved using 300 gms weight fabric. Contents of the dye bath can be used over a number of days, but must be re-heated before each new dyeing operation. Marabu-EasyColor dyes are not boil-resistant and will lighten on successive washings. To raise the washing-resistance fixing medium must be used.

Working Guidelines
For all hand dyeing and resist techniques such as wax batik, tie-dyeing and pleating (Plangi), needle techniques (Tritik) as well as Devoré Dyeing ("two-dyeing technique"). Pack contents (25 gms) are sufficient for intense dyeing of 150 gms of fabric. Medium to light colour will be achieved using 300 gms weight fabric with good light fastness.

The original colour shades can only be achieved on white textiles; for coloured fabrics a mixture with the basic shade will result over dyeing.

Dyeing operation:
1. For intense dyeing, pour 3-5 litres of boiling water into a large, rustless enamel jug (bowl or bucket) so that the fabric is able to float. For medium to light colours (up to a maximum of 300 gms weight fabric), 7 litres of water must be used.
2. Stir the pack content into the water and dissolve.
3. Add 1 tablespoon of salt per litre of water and dissolve. For silk, 50 ml of household vinegar must be added.
4. Moisten the textile with lukewarm water, slightly squeeze out.
5. Lay the textile in the solution; for wax batik allow to cool to 40-50 °C.
6. Dye for 20 minutes at least, by moving the material continuously in the solution.
7. Rinse the dyed material after each dyeing operation in cold water until the water remains clear. Before rinsing out, allow silk to slowly cool.

The dyeing solution can be stored in a clean, closed container for several days, it should, however be warmed up to 40 °C at least before dyeing. The higher the temperature, the more intensive the dyeing result.
